Midwestern State University Training and Celebration

On Monday, August 20th, Yamaha helped Midwestern State University in Wichita Falls, Texas celebrate their acquisition of seventeen new Yamaha pianos.

This purchase was very special in that sixteen of the seventeen pianos were acoustic pianos enhanced with technology. Five of the pianos were Disklavier Enspire grands and eleven were YUS Silent verticals. The only piano without technology was the new SX7 7’6” grand from the very critically acclaimed SX series of Premium Yamaha Pianos.

The day also included training by Shana Kirk, a special Yamaha consultant in educational music technology. Among the subjects presented were:

  • Getting acquainted with our new instruments
  • Demonstration of special features
  • Applications for solo and collaborative musicians
  • Technologies for piano pedagogy and classroom instruction
  • A Disklavier live-remote master class taught by Dr. Melody Ng, from the University of Alabama-Huntsville, to student Nahye Byun

Present for this event were approximately thirty faculty and students from Midwestern State University. Also in attendance were representatives from Yamaha and Metroplex Piano, including Dan Rodowicz, Kirk Davis, Darren Speir and Tommy Edds.
